New Meaty Vegan Hot Dogs and Chili Menu Unveiling at PLNT Burger

We are super excited about the new Vegan Chili and two Vegan Hot Dogs on the menu of this meat lover’s favorite vegan burger place, PLNT Burger, in Downtown Silver Spring. We are no strangers to meat substitutes, and this nomtastic place by Chef Spike Mendelsohn and Chef Michael Colletti is known for making some of the most delicious vegan burgers that will have even meat lovers drooling. VIP Unveiling Event

We were delighted when PLNT Burger invited us to a VIP Media event to unveil the 2020 menu—nothing like starting a new year with some brand new nomnoms. You might not even realize you are eating Beyond Meat or Fake Meat when Chef Spike Mendelsohn and Chef Michael Colletti use their culinary magic. Read on to learn more and why you should visit.

Chili is a true star of the new menu at PLNT Burger. This amazingly prepared dish would surprise even meat lovers with its meaty flavors. With every bite, it was hard to believe we were eating a vegan chili. The chefs achieved all the chili flavors we all like with zero meat inside. Made with ground Beyond Meat, house-made spice blend, beans, tomatoes, green onions, Follow Your Heart shredded cheddar cheese, and vegan “sour cream.” We got to talk about the sour cream, and it tastes so real we would think they just skipped the vegan part there. This is a perfect dish for cold days in DC during winter. A nice bowl of this tasty chili cost $8. One thing to note: this is a tasting size for the event, so the bowl is much bigger.

The chili dog was our favorite hot dog from PLNT Burger’s new menu. It combines deliciously prepared Beyond Meat sausage, vegan chili, Sir Kensington’s ketchup, and Follow Your Heart cheese. Made with split and grilled to perfection beyond Meat sausage, house-made chili, green onion, and Schmidt’s potato hot dog bun. Seasoned and grilled to perfection, it’s hard to believe this is a 100% vegan dish. That is one of the reasons we think this burger joint serves some fantastic food that even meat-eaters like us will love—price-wise, this dish costs, like most other hot dogs, $7.

Another great addition to the PLNT Burger menu is Sauerkraut Hot Dog. It’s a beautiful hot dog that also tastes great. Served with perfectly grilled split Beyond Meat sausage, sauerkraut, relish, and spicy mustard, the combination of pickled things and mustard makes for one strong flavor in every bite and served on Schmidt’s potato hot dog bun. You won’t regret eating this at the baseball game.

While not new to the menu, vegan ice cream is a must-order nomnom. Last time, we tried their amazing Chocolate Milk Shake, so this time, we wanted to try the swirl. There are a few flavors to pick from, but the Strawberry Chocolate mix is our favorite. Of course, you can’t forget to add some rainbow sprinkles on top!
